Big Boys Bodyboards

Unfortunately, a rarity in the modern world. Large bodyboards, big bodyboards, XL bodyboard, big boy bodyboards – call them what you will – are hard to come across. Not to worry however, here at Inverted we’ve reached out to every supplier on the market to narrow down the search and bring to you all the very best in big bodyboards! With options in EPS, PE and PP cores you’re spoilt for choice. Depending on what you’re doing out there, you’re going to find all these foams perform at different rates. The EPS should be used for beginner---- bodyboarders only, those looking to go out and have a bit of fun in the shore. PE cores by comparison are for the intermediate levelled bodyboarder, with a slightly thicker foam the PE core is going to be more durable and perform better in heavier conditions. PP by comparison to the two aforementioned foams is of the most durable nature. The most compressed and totally waterproof. PP foam is extraordinarily strong and will offer the most buoyancy by comparison to any of the previously mentioned foams.

Now, in terms of sizing. It all depends on what you plan to do with the bodyboard, however, generally speaking bigger is not necessarily better. Bodyboard sizes will perform within very similar realms as to how perhaps a Malibu surfboard might perform in comparison to that of a short Thruster surfboard. Basically, you’re correct in assuming the bigger the board is, similar to a Malibu it’s going to be easier to get on the wave and stay on the wave, especially in smaller conditions. However. The bigger you go, similar to a Malibu again, it’s going to get harder and harder to control. Big bodyboards are going to be very stiff and very buoyant which will be resistant when you try to flex the bodyboard in order to control it. You need to make sure this is the right size in accordance to what you want to do in the water.

So, if you have any doubts as to what size bodyboard you might require we highly recommend you shoot an email by us or simply give us a call within our trading hours on 07 5477 7899. If not for your peace of mind, for ours.
