Mini mals, or mini malibus are renowned as entry level surfboards as for their wide and thickened shape which caters for maximum buoyancy. Whilst this theory certainly remains true and allows entry level surfers something of a gateway into surfing, it doesn’t mean experienced levelled riders can get out on mini mals and have just as much fun. With the market for these boards more flooded than ever before, we’ve been very careful in choosing our suppliers as to maximise quality and performance of the soft surfboard. Listed through our web and on our shop floor you will find mini mal variations from Softlite, Ryder and Drag. Each of which remains at the top of the game in manufacturing these soft surfboards.
Each of these brands continue to fall back to one common compressed foam. The EPS (Extruded Polystyrene) core is a compressed and water tight foam which offers maximum durability as for its thick and stiffened nature. Packed in with this compressed foam will be a stringer(s). The stringer(s) is a carbon fibre rod which runs through the centre of your board and offers a wee bit more spine and rigidity to your board. The stringer will allow your soft surfboard to retain its shape and withstand the test of time. The choice really comes down to brand preference and colour, and that ain’t something we can choose for you.
