The Gold Coast Bodyboard Club kicked off their season with a bang with Round 1 presented by Inverted Bodyboarding. The event was held at DBah and competitors were treated to great winds and 2ft+ waves for most of the day, creating an ideal setting for some fantastic bodyboarding action.
The Super Grommets final saw a standout performance from Frank Nutter, earning him the Earth and Sea Outstanding Performance Award for his impressive single wave score of 8 points. Benson Peasley placed second, followed by Noa Rowlands in third and Nixon Nelson in fourth.
In the Opens Final, it was Edgardo Avilez from Chile with his incredible single wave score of 9 points to take the top spot in the division, with Grant Nutter coming in second, followed by Silas Ganciar in third and Dan Leyshon in fourth.
The Women's division saw Noriko Smith take home the top honors, with Britt-Marie Ladley in second and Shannon Nutter in third.
The Dropknee division was hotly contested, but it was Justin Kirkpatrick who came out on top, with Levi Frangos taking second, Simon Bruncke in third, and Damon Wridgway in fourth.
In the Masters division, it was Simon Bruncke who took the top spot, with Darrel Nelson in second, Jeremy Brownjohn in third, and Scott Hubery in fourth.
The Cadets division saw Taylor Barton emerge victorious, with Kade Grendon in second, Byron Millar in third, Jaxon McAuliffe in fourth, and Cruz McAuliffe in fifth.
The Men's division was won by Grant Nutter, followed by Curtis Prior in second, Casey Deane in third, and Shannon Deane in fourth.
Finally, the Grand Masters division was won by Justin Kirkpatrick, with David Simpson in second, Matt Foster in third, and Warwick Leese in fourth.
Overall, it was a great day of bodyboarding action for the Gold Coast Bodyboard Club and their first round was a huge success. With many more rounds to come, there's sure to be plenty more exciting competition from this talented community of bodyboarders.
